As a regulated payments provider, EFTPOS Central is legally obligated to verify the business information of all our merchants. Before your business can begin using our payment solutions, certain checks must be completed. These requirements come from our regulators, government, and financial partners to ensure the security of your data and the integrity of the financial services industry.
EFTPOS Central is committed to providing secure, compliant, and sustainable payment solutions for New Zealand businesses. As part of our obligations under card network/scheme rules and regulatory requirements, we are unable to provide EFTPOS One, Tap on Mobile, or merchant facility services to certain restricted business types. This includes, but is not limited to, businesses involved in adult entertainment, gambling, cryptocurrency, CBD or cannabis sales, multi-level marketing, vape and tobacco stores, unlicensed financial services, and other sectors flagged for regulatory, reputational, or chargeback risk. If you are unsure whether your business is eligible, please contact us. We're happy to review your application and guide you on the best path forward.
Identifying the authorised persons and bank account for your entity is the most complex yet crucial part of this compliance process. But don’t worry, we’re here to help.
Depending on your business type (e.g., sole trader, partnership, company, charitable organisation, incorporated society), EFTPOS Central requires the following documents:
Authorised persons include all:
A copy of one of the following identity documents must be provided for each authorised person:
The photo ID must clearly show the person’s full name, date of birth, and photograph.
Provide a copy of one of the following documents for each authorised person to verify their residential address:
The document must be no more than three (3) months old and clearly show the person’s full name and current residential address.
Proof of Bank Account is required for the issuance of a Merchant Facility. You will need to provide us with your bank account details to ensure funds are correctly deposited and to ensure compliance with AML/KYC laws in New Zealand.
To verify your bank account, you must email a photo or scanned copy of one of the following documents. Screenshots from a banking application are not permitted.
The document must clearly display the account name, account number, and bank logo to confirm the Account Holder’s identity and ensure funds are deposited correctly.
Privacy & Security: You are welcome to redact or remove any balances or transaction details before submitting your document. However, the essential details (account name, account number, and bank logo) must remain visible. This verification process is required to comply with financial security regulations and prevent payment errors.
