Paymark Returns: A New Chapter for New Zealand Payments

For more than four decades, Paymark has been at the centre of how New Zealand businesses get paid.

From the early days of EFTPOS transforming the way Kiwis paid, through to today’s world of contactless, mobile wallets, online payments and emerging technologies; the Paymark network has been a critical piece of New Zealand’s payments infrastructure.

Today marks an exciting new chapter.

Worldline New Zealand has officially joined Cuscal, Australasia’s leading independent payments and data services provider. As part of this change, the business will transition from the Worldline name and return to its New Zealand roots as Paymark.

For many Kiwi businesses, Paymark is a name they know and trust; and for those of us who have been part of the payments industry for many years, it is a welcome return of an iconic New Zealand brand.

A Bit of History

EFTPOS Central’s relationship with Paymark goes back more than 15 years.

We were proud to become one of New Zealand’s first accredited Paymark Resellers back in the early 2010s; a programme that helped shape the standards, support and accountability expected from EFTPOS providers across the country.

Since then, payments have changed dramatically.

The traditional EFTPOS terminal is no longer the only way businesses accept payments. Today, merchants need solutions that work across terminals, phones, apps, unattended devices, online platforms and new payment methods.

Our relationship has evolved alongside those changes — from supporting merchants on the Paymark network, through to becoming a Paymark technology partner and launching innovative solutions such as EFTPOS One and Tap on Mobile.

What Does This Mean for EFTPOS Central Customers?

The most important thing: nothing changes day-to-day.

Your terminals keep working.

Your payments keep processing.

Your support remains exactly the same.

The same New Zealand-based team continues to operate the network and provide the services relied on by thousands of businesses every day.

What does change is the opportunity ahead.

Cuscal brings significant payments experience, technology capability and investment focus. Combined with the strength and heritage of Paymark, this creates an exciting opportunity to accelerate innovation in the New Zealand payments market.

Welcome Back, Paymark

While the name may be returning, payments have never stood still.

We’re excited to continue working alongside Paymark and Cuscal as we help shape the next generation of payments in New Zealand.
